Ice Storage Manufacturer
sp.ICE GmbH

Using latent heat for reducing energy costs

We develop and produce ice storage tanks for a sustainable cooling supply

sp.ICE GmbH is an innovative ice storage manufacturer that develops highly efficient storage solutions for heating and cooling systems. Our goal is to offer the most efficient cold storage for the widest possible range of applications. To achieve this, we use the natural storage capacity of ice to store excess energy from solar and wind power plants in order to efficiently cool buildings and processes when demand is at its highest.

Energy storage systems are the crucial link between the utilization of renewable energy sources, which are not available on a stable basis, and a consistently high demand for energy. With our ice storage systems, energy from the sun and wind can be used to freeze water into ice, which is then used at a later point in time to generate cooling. This reduces the use of electricity-intensive chillers even when energy from the sun or wind is not available.

sp.ICE stands for “Speedy & Powerful Ice Storage”. The high-performance ice storage systems we manufacture are versatile and relatively easy to integrate. Possible applications include: the optimal use of renewable energy for cooling offices, industrial processes, and data centers; covering peak loads in cooling demand; and reducing electricity consumption for cooling with the associated CO2 savings.

Ice storage integration into energy systems

sp.ICE GmbH is not only a specialized ice storage company. Our team has many years of experience in the planning and implementation of innovative and sustainable energy systems. We create the technically and economically suitable refrigeration solution for each individual project, tailored to the resources available on site and the specific requirements of our customers.

Our scope of supply includes the ice thermal energy storage unit, the hydraulic connection as well as the I&C and connection to the building management system.

Advantages of our ice storage technology

Compact design

Our solution requires up to 60% less space than conventional ice storage systems

Power

High capacities and discharge times of 6 hours make our ice storage system capable of handling peak loads

Load times

The sp.ICE can be fully loaded with ice within 6 hours

Modular design

Our ice storage units are available in combinable ISO containers in sizes 10', 20', and 40'

    What our clients say

Full air conditioning was planned for the renovation of an office building. The existing power supply was not sufficient for the required cooling capacity at peak times. Rather than having to make costly upgrades to the existing power supply, the ice storage system offered a cost-effective and quick way of ensuring the required peak cooling capacity. With the support of sp.ICE GmbH, the renovation was successfully completed on time and on budget.
